  1. Wash the daal.   
  2. In 2 cups of water add the daal and dry red chilies.
  3. Boil until the daal is cooked and drain.   
  4. Add ginger and salt to the daal.
  5. Mix and cook (covered) on very low flame for 5-10 minutes.   
  6. Fry the onions in oil until golden.    
  7. Pour the fried onions and the oil into the daal.
  8. Garnish with fresh chopped mint.
  9. Serve with Beef Kofta Curry.
