0/0 steps made- Thinly slice the onions.
- Chop the tomatoes into small pieces.
- Chop the potatoes into medium-small pieces.
- Wash and soak the rice in water for at least an hour.
- In half cup of hot oil, fry the onions till golden brown. Strain and set aside.
- Add mutton and fry for 1 minute on high flame, stirring constantly.
- Add half the fried onions, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garlic-ginger paste, ½ tsp salt, and turmeric powder. Mix well.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 30 minutes – till the meat is half done.
- Add tomatoes and potatoes and cover and cook on medium heat until the mutton is tender.
- Beat yogurt and add to the meat. Stir well.
- Drain the rice and add to the meat. Stir well.
- Add enough water so that it is about 3/4″ above the level of the rice.
- Add 1 tsp salt and mix well.
- Bring to a boil and then cover and cook on low-medium heat for about 15-20 minutes.
- Check on the rice. If the water has almost completely dried up, reduce the flame to low and cover and cook again till the rice is done.
- Remove from flame and garnish with coriander leaves.
